Price: Electric vehicles are environment-friendly, but they are not pocket-friendly! Due to the complex electric drivetrain and expensive battery packs, electric vehicles are pricey when compared to their conventional counterparts. Manufacturers have made e-bikes affordable for the common man with e-bikes now available at a range of prices starting from Rs 2,999.
Incentives and tax benefits: The incentives and tax benefits offered by the government can reduce the overall cost of electric vehicles. So, make sure to check on the exact percentage of incentive and tax benefits you get, if you purchase an eco-friendly vehicle. The Government of India also offers discount on service tax (GST).
In order to qualify for the incentives, companies must set up a minimum of 50 Gigawatt hours (Gwh) of battery storage capacity in the next five years, which is expected to attract a direct investment of about $6 billion.
Service: If something happens to your EVs, you may have to visit official service centres only. So, before you finalise your new EV, make sure you know about the company’s servicing policies, total warranty period, and if the company makes spare parts or not.
