Country’s largest automotive company, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), has reduced prices of higher variants of hatchback, AltoK10 by Rs 5,000. The automobile company has made this decision on falling sale of once a highest selling car in India.

According to India’s leading car research company, Carwale, the new ex-showroom prices of two of the hatchback’s top variants i.e. of VXi AGS and VXi+ AGS will be Rs 5.56 lakh and Rs 5.85 lakh, respectively.

The auto major didn’t cut prices of lowest variant i.e. of AltoK10 STD. The ex-showroom price of which still starts from Rs 3.99 lakh.

Alto is no more the highest-selling car in India!

Sale of Alto has fallen like nine pins in last couple of years. Maruti Swift finished the year 2023 as India’s highest selling car. While, Alto didn’t even feature in top 10 list.

How much have Alto sales fallen?

As per latest sales data released by MSI, the share of sale of Maruti’s small cars in total passenger vehicle sales has dipped under 10 per cent in January 2024 from around 17 per cent in year ago period. MSI sold 15,849 units of small cars Alto and S-Presso in January 2024. While, one year ago, the automotive company had sold 25,446 units of alike cars.
