November is the month of Diwali and some other festivals. According to the holiday list of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed for 17 days out of 30 days of the month. If you have any urgent business with your bank, plan accordingly. These 17 days of bank closing include state-specific leaves and the weekend offs.

Classification

These 11 off days are a combination of state-specific leaves, religious celebrations and festivals. However, according to RBI’s official classifications the list of holidays is usually grouped under the titles of ‘Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act’ and ‘Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday’ and ‘Banks’ Closing of Accounts’.

In the case of November, most of the holidays come under the ‘Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act’ classification.

 17 off days

Of the six routine offs, November 13 and 27 are second and fourth Saturday while November 7, 14, 21 and 28 are Sundays.

The rest 11 days are as follows. Banks will remain closed on the first day of the month in Bengaluru and Imphal region on the occasions of Kannada Rajyostsava and Kut, respectively.

On November 3, banks in Bengaluru will remain closed in Naraka Chaturdashi.

On November 4, banks will remain closed in all the cities across the country except Bengaluru on the occasions of Laxmi puja or Deepavali or Kali Puja.

Banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Dehradun, Gangtok, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai and Nagpur on November 5 on the occasions of Diwali or Govardhan Puja.

Banks will remain closed on November 6 in Gangtok, Imphal, Kanpur, Lucknow and Shimla on the occasions of Bhai Duj, Chitragupt Jayanti, Deepawali and Ningol Chakkouba.

On November 10, banks will remain closed in Patna and Ranchi on the occasions of Chhath Puja.

Banks will not function in Patna on the occasion of Chhath Puja on November 11, 2021. In Shillong on the occasions of Wangala festival banks will close on November 12.

On November 19, 2021, banks will remain closed across the country for Guru Nanak Jayanti and Karthika Purnima. Again, in Bengaluru on the occasions of Kanakadasa Jayanthi banks will remain closed on November 22.

On November 23, banks will remain closed in Shillong on the occasions of Seng Kutsnem.
