Many banks had rolled out special fixed deposit schemes to commemorate India's entry in Amrit Kaal back in 2023.

The State Bank of India has again extended the deadline of its special fixed deposit scheme, the SBI Amrit Kalash till September 30, 2024. This scheme was launched earlier to commemorate India’s Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Currently, citizens get interest rate of 7.10 per cent on fixed deposits opened under this scheme. While, senior citizens get 0.50 per cent additional rates i.e. 7.60 per cent interest.

The public lender has extended deadline of another of its scheme, the “SBI We-care” deposit scheme, under which senior citizens get additional rate of one per cent. They will continue to get 7.50 per cent interest on a tenure of 5 years to 10 years. While, general citizens will get 6.50 per cent on this FD.

Other lenders in the country had also rolled out special FD schemes to  commemorate India’s entery into Amrit Kaal  back in 2023. Let’s see how much interest rates citizens can get if they open any of these term deposits.

Private sector lender, the IDBI Bank,  had also rolled out a special option, the Utsav Callable FD. Under this special scheme, the bank gives three tenure options. First one is of 300 days, the second is of 375 days and the third is of 444 days.  In the first one, general citizens will get 7.05 per cent interest. While, the elderly get 7.55 per cent on this tenure.  On the second one, general citizens get 7.10 per cent interest, while, senior citizens get 7.60 per cent  on this FD. On the third one which is of longer tenure, depositors can get 7.25 per cent rate of interest, while, the elderly get 7.75 per cent interest.

On the other hand, the public sector lender, the Indian Bank had also introduced such special term deposit schemes which are still active. The first one,  “IND SUPER 400 DAYS” is of 400 days tenure. General citizens can get 7.25 per cent rate of interest and the elderly get  7.75 per cent interest. The public lender had launched another such special fixed deposit product which it still continues. It is ‘Ind Supreme 300 Days’. General citizens get 7.05 per cent interest rate on FDs of 300 days. While, elderly will get 7.55 per cent interest rate.

Punjab & Sind Bank also gives higher interest rate on similar special fixed deposit schemes. The public lender also gives option of three ifferent tenures to open an FD.

First is of 222 days, where, general citizens will get 7.05 percent rate of interest. And, the other tenure is of 333 days, where, general citizens will get 7.10 percent interest rate. Senior citizens will get 0.50 additional rates on all these three tenures. The third one is of 444 days in which depositors get 7.25 per cent interest rate.
