SBI has come up with a series of digital banking services to provide a hassle-free and risk-free experience for all its customers. Online nominee registration is the latest to join the list

In another step towards paperless banking, the State Bank of India (SBI) has now enabled a digital nomination facility for all deposit accounts. This means SBI customers can now appoint a nominee for their bank account online from the convenience of their homes.

With lockdown-like restrictions in most parts of the country due to the Covid-19 pandemic, visiting a bank is not so easy. SBI has, thus, come up with a series of digital banking services to provide a hassle-free and risk-free experience for all its customers. Online nominee registration is the latest to join the list.

Individual accounts like single/joint accounts as well as accounts of a sole proprietary concerns can avail of this online nomination facility. It can also be lodged on behalf of a minor and the legal guardian will receive the amount on behalf of the registered minor.

“Want to add a nominee in your account? You can easily register a nominee by using OnlineSBI & YONO Lite. Enjoy our online services from your comfort zone. Stay home, stay safe,” SBI tweeted.

To facilitate the process of nomination online, users can take the help of SBI net banking or mobile banking.

SBI Net Banking-

-Visit onlinesbi.com and enter login details (username and password)

-From the menu, select ‘Request & Enquiries’

-Tap on ‘Online nomination’ from the list of options

-Select the account to add a nominee

-Enter nominee details like name, DOB, address and relationship with the account holder-

-Enter the password received on your registered mobile number

-Select ‘Confirm’ to add the new nominee

SBI Mobile Banking (YONO Lite app)

-Open the SBI YONO Lite App on your phone. You can download it from play store/app store

-Sign in to your account and select ‘Services’

-Select ‘Online Nomination’

-Select your account

-Select ‘Register Nomination’ and enter nominee details like name, DOB, address and relationship with the account holder

-Select ‘Submit’ to add a nominee to the specific account

The nominee can claim the balance amount in case of the depositor’s death before maturity. However, it must be noted that the depositor can make or cancel the nomination anytime during his/her lifetime.
