The government is constantly looking at measures to stop the surge in the number of coronavirus cases in the country. In view of the situation in the country, PM Narendra Modi held a review meeting on the availability of medical oxygen. To ensure availability of oxygen to hospitals, the Union Home Secretary has written letters to the states. Foreign vaccines have also been approved for emergency use.

Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said the government is now better prepared to fight the Covid threat. He said the government is capable of defeating this epidemic in every way. The Health Minister will also visit various health centers in the next few days.

Here we look at the steps government is taking to tackle the coronavirus crisis:

PM Narendra Modi holds a review meeting on medical oxygen

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an important review meeting on Friday to ensure adequate supply of medical oxygen in the country. PM Modi said that it is important to maintain coordination between ministries and state governments for uninterrupted supply of oxygen.

Union Home Secretary holds high-level meeting with states

The Union Home Secretary has written to all the states not to ban the movement of medical oxygen vehicles.

Addressing Remdesivir shortage

The government has said that the production capacity of Remedesivir Injection will be doubled in the country and the maximum price of Remedesivir Injection has been fixed at Rs 3,500, so that black marketing cannot be done. The government has informed that 6 other companies have also been allowed to make Remedisvir injection. The result of this is that by the end of April, 80 lakh injections will be ready in the country.

Vaccination drive

The process of applying the vaccine in the country will be accelerated through the Tika Utsav. A decision will be taken to approve the emergency use given to Russia’s Sputnik-V vaccine and to approve other foreign vaccines soon.

Expanding vaccine manufacturing

The government is emphasising on expanding the manufacturing capacity for the production of co-vaccines . Under self-sufficient India 3.0, a target has been set to increase vaccine production in the country 7 times by July August. At the same time, 10 crore vaccines will be made in the country by the end of September, for which the Government of India will also provide financial help to private vaccine producers. The Prime Minister is constantly meeting with the Chief Ministers and Governors of the states.

Covid ward to start in government hospitals

Corona block/ward will be opened in government hospitals. There will be a separate arrangement for movement of the block. Apart from this, separate health workers, ventilators, oxygen beds, ICU beds will also be arranged. Necessary services like laboratory services, imaging services, kitchen, laundry will also be present.

Expert view

RML Hospital’s Superintendent of Health, Dr Rana NK Singh, said that in this epidemic, the government cannot be trusted only. All citizens, along with the central government, state government, will not forget their responsibilities. Everyone will have to learn to put on a mask, two yards away and get out of the house only when needed. And the most important thing is that in this fight, we also have an excellent vaccine weapon. Those who are eligible to get the vaccine should get it done as soon as they get a chance.
