Oxygen crisis: Arvind Kejriwal says 44 new oxygen plants will be set up in Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on April 27 addressed the oxygen crisis in the Capital, saying that it will import 18 tankers from Bangkok  18 tankers from Bangkok and 44 new oxygen plants will be set up in Delhi within a month.

“We have also requested the Centre to allow the use of Air Force planes for this purpose. 21 ready-to-use oxygen plants to be imported from France, installed at different hospitals,” Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal also said the oxygen crisis witnessed in Delhi last week has been controlled to an extent and situation has improved significantly.

He also informed that 1,200 new ICU beds to be ready in Delhi by May 10

“The demand for ICU beds has risen in the second wave due to which all ICU beds are full in Delhi. 500 beds will be set up in Ramlila Maidan in front of GTB hospital and LNJP hospital each. The rest 200 beds will be set up in Radha Soami Complex in Delhi,” he said

Delhi reported 20,201 fresh Covid cases in the past 24 hours. This is the highest single-day spike for the national capital since the beginning of the pandemic. The city currently has 92,358 active cases.
