Phishing scams seem to have become more sophisticated with time. Due to proliferation of digital modes of transactions taking place in a robust manner, it is important for consumers to be aware of the dangers lurking.

In this episode of ‘A Stitch In Time’, we explore how you can protect yourself from such scams with cyber lawyer Pavan Duggal joining in to help understand the various recourses available and steps we need to take to steer clear of these phishing networks.

“With COVID -19 disrupting lives and business operations, we have begun to start seeing the emergence of the golden age of cybercrime. Today, the number one cyber-criminal activity across the world is phishing. It is a phenomenon by which cyber criminals win your confidence. They ask you to either click on a link or open an attachment because it is apparently coming from a trustworthy source. Soon you’ll find yourself trapped in a case of phishing. You lose not just your money and confidence but find that you have become a victim of a cyber-security breach,” he said.

So, how to avoid falling in phishing traps?

“Do not open attachments that come from unknown sources. Do not click on links of such kind whatsoever. Please do not save your credit card, debit card, internet banking details on your mobile phones or your laptop,” he said.
