Debt funds are a type of mutual funds that invest in fixed income securities like bonds, government securities and treasury bills. Debt funds are considered to be an asset which gives relatively stable returns.

But a Budget 2021 announcement may have an impact on debt investors.

The government has a massive borrowing plan in FY-2021-22. At the same time, RBI is planning to sell bonds worth Rs 20,000 crore in the open market. All this will have an impact on debt markets.
