Output from hydel sources increases eastern regions’ power generation

Eastern region’s power generation increased by 8.4% up to October 13 of the current fiscal, as thermal power generation was higher by 9.5%, with output from hydel sources increasing by almost 1% in the eastern region till October 13. This comes at a time when some regions of the country were marred with power shortages due to a short supply of coal. According to data from Central Electricity Authority, power generation declined by around 5% in other regions.

In the same period, the all-India thermal power generation fell by 3.6%, while the total generation declined by 2.9%.

Nuclear powers-up northern region

The total power generation for the northern region declined by 5%, and on the other hand thermal was down by 6.4% in the same period. On the other hand, Nuclear power clocked a growth of 3% in the region for the period up to October 13th.

In the Western region, power generation registered a decline of 5% in the said period, where thermal, nuclear and hydro were down by 4.7%, 13.4% and 5.6% respectively, according to the data. Down south, power generation slumped by 5%, while thermal went down by 9.8%.
