Invest in Credit Risk Mutual Fund or not?

Two-thirds of the workers belonged to the 18-40 age group. According to media reports, three or four welfare schemes are expected to be linked to the e-SHRAM portal by the end of the year.

Registrations on the e-SHRAM portal crossed 80 million on Wednesday. Two interesting trends are noticeable in the registrations, says a report.

One, women outnumber men in registrations. Two, five states have been responsible for nearly three-fourths of the registrations, according to an analysis by the Business Standard.

The government still has a long way to go as the e-SHRAM portal has only attracted only a fifth of the total workforce, says the report.

The Ministry of Labour & Employment has developed the e-SHRAM portal for creating a national database of unorganised workers (NDUW), which will be seeded with Aadhaar. It will have details of name, occupation, address, educational qualification, skill types, family details, etc. for optimum realisation of their employability and extend the benefits of the social security schemes to them.

It is the first-ever national database of unorganised workers including migrant workers, construction workers, gig and platform workers, etc.

Female registration a surprise

According to the Business Standard analysis, West Bengal accounted for a quarter of registrations.

Female registrations came as a surprise as India’s female labour participation rate is low. The newspaper said states, which have exhibited fewer women participation, witnessed over 50% female registration.

For India as a whole, 51.66% of registration came from females. The newspaper said females accounted for 56% of registrations from Bihar. It was 50.75% in Uttar Pradesh,

Two-thirds of the workers belonged to the 18-40 age group. According to media reports, three or four welfare schemes are expected to be linked to the e-SHRAM portal by the end of the year.

The Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana has already been linked to the portal and other schemes will be linked once 100 million registrations are achieved.
