One of the most loved singers in the country, Shreya Ghoshal, has announced her pregnancy on social media.
“Baby #Shreyaditya is on its way! @shiladitya and me are thrilled to share this news with you all. Need all your love and blessings as we prepare ourselves for this new chapter in our lives,” the 37-year-old singer wrote on Instagram and Facebook.
With this announcement Shreya is set to join a list of celebrity couples who became parents.
Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma were blessed with baby girl on January 11.
On February 1, actor-comedian Kapil Sharma and his wife Ginni Chatrath welcomed a baby, their second, to the family.
On February 21, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor had a baby boy.
On March 2, another singer Harshdeep Kaur and her husband Mankeet Singh welcomed a baby boy.
Only hours before the baby’s birth, Harshdeep shared a picture with her husband. Both of them were in night suits.
“Must catch up on some sleep before the much awaited Sleepless Nights. @mankeet_singh,” she wrote in the caption.
After Ghoshal’s post early on March 4, fans congratulated the singer.
Within three hours, as many as 3.24 lakh likes, more than 21,000 comments and about 3,800 shares were recorded on Facebook.
Ghoshal tied the knot with childhood friend Shiladitya Mukhopadhyay in February 2015 after a dating period of 10 years. It was a traditional Bengali wedding.
This would be the first time that Shreya Ghoshal, who burst on the scene in 2000 when she won the television music reality show Sa Re Ga Ma on Zee TV. She was 16 then.
Shreya has so far recorded nearly 2,400 songs in about 20 languages.
