Markets continued the gaining momentum for the fourth consecutive session on Monday, driven higher by autos, metals and pharmaceuticals. The BSE Sensex gained 295 points to close at 49,502, while the Nifty50 rose 119 points to 14,942. The Nifty Bank traded in line with benchmarks, rising 237 points to close at 33,142.

Here are key things to know before the opening bell today

SGX Nifty slips over 1% indicating a negative start for the Indian markets. At 14,800 (7.20 am) , SGX Nifty slipped about 200 points in trade. This was following the declines seen in Asian markets. Asian markets also logged in declines in opening trade

Dow Jones slipped after touch record

Nasdaq slipped over 2.5% on Monday as technology stocks tumbled, while the S&P 500 fell over 1% and Dow Jones ended with a negative bias.  Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 34.94 points, or 0.1% to 34,742.82, the S&P 500 lost 44.17 points, or 1.04% to end at 4,188.43 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 350 points, or 2.55% to close at 13,401.

FII and DII data

Foreign institutional investors net bought shares worth Rs 583 crore, while domestic institutional investors net sold shares worth Rs 476 crore in the Indian equity
