More women must take up finance as a career: Punita Kumar Sinha

In an interview with Money9, Punita rued there are very few women in leadership roles

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Punita Kumar Sinha, Managing Partner, Pacific Paradigm Advisors and Chairperson InCred AMC, expressed her concern that women are under-represented in the fund managing industry.
In an interview with Money9, Punita rued there are very few women in leadership roles, especially on the ‘Buy’ side.

Buy-Side – is the side of the financial market that buys and invests large portions of securities for the purpose of money or fund management.

Sell-Side – is the other side of the financial market, which deals with the creation, promotion, and selling of traded securities to the public.

“Buy side is a great career option for women as they are objective in their way of measuring performance and are more prudent when it comes to investment decisions,” she said.
While traditionally it was always seen as men being responsible for making all investment decisions, but women should realise that if they can get educated in economics and commerce, there is no reason for them to feel intimidated about joining financial industry as a career.
