The government has made the Aadhaar card mandatory for almost everything. Lots of direct cash transfer programmes of central government such as LPG Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY), and Micro Units Development & Refinance Agency Bank (MUDRA) loans are available only if Aadhaar is seeded with the bank account.

Aadhaar cardholders can use the Aadhaar paperless offline e-KYC (which is basically a four-digit code generated on a mobile phone or computer with the help of a link stated below) for offline verification of their identification, which is a secure and shareable document.

Unless and until one verifies his/her identity (e-KYC) Aadhaar will not work fully in all places.

A citizen has to either visit a UIDAI centre or send his/her four-digit share code to the authorities by courier or post.

The Aadhaar paperless e-KYC is a secure and personal document, which an Aadhaar cardholder can use for offline verification of his/her identification.

Recently UIDAI twitted ‘you can obtain your Aadhaar Paperless Offline e-KYC from the link https://resident.uidai.gov.in/offline-kyc once you have mobile number seeded with Aadhaar.’

For this e-KYC, a subscriber should first link his/her mobile number to the Aadhaar, and then click the link to complete an OPT-based verification process. The process will be complete within a couple of minutes.

10 step guide

Step 1- Log in at UIDAI given direct link, resident.uidai.gov.in/offline-kyc.

Step 2- Enter the Aadhaar number or VID.

Step 3- Click on the ‘Send OTP’ option.

Step 7- Share Code of 4-characters.

Step 8– A ZIP file containing the Resident’s Paperless Offline e-KYC will appear.
