According to talent consultancy firm Han Digital, Accenture has hired more than 70,000 candidates in India in the current financial year, which might be a record India's IT industry.

In the ongoing financial year which ends in August 2022, Accenture could cross the three lakh mark in the total employee headcount in India, as the momentum continues with 30,000 positions open in the country now, according to a report in The Times of India. The record will come on the back of a record high levels of hiring over more than a year. It added that the company currently has 2,50,000 employees in India. In the latest earnings call, the company had added 1,18,000 new recruits in the last financial year, taking the total headcount to 6,24,000 employees.

The fourth quarter alone saw net new hires of 56,000, due to the result of a robust order book. Back in 2014, the company had three lakh employees and the number has more than doubled in seven years.

Cloud and cybersecurity growth drivers of the firm

According to talent consultancy firm Han Digital, Accenture has hired more than 70,000 candidates in India in the current financial year, which might be a record India’s IT industry. Last year, TCS and Infosys have been talking of fresher hiring last year and 30,000 to 40,000 this year each. Lateral hiring may add another 10,000 to this.

It further said that, Accenture posting record numbers and a robust environment for demand, the hiring is expected to pickup significantly in the coming months. Also, it added that hot skills like cloud, cyber security and data analytics which has emerged as growth drivers of the firm.

As per DeepDive Equity Research, Accenture’s considers India as a very important source for talent as it not only delivers basic services but also high-end services which includes requiring deep skills in AI, cybersecurity, digital marketing and industry expertise ranging from pharmacueticals to banking.

Cognizant has over 2 lakh employees in India, Capgemini has over 1.5 lakh, while DXC has over 40,000.
