India has reported 13,451 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The total recoveries across the country so far are 3,35,97,339. According to the health ministry’s data, 14,021 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. The active caseload is currently at 1,62,661, which is the lowest in 242 days with a cumulative total of more than 3.42 crore cases. The national recovery rate of Covid-19 has increased to 98.19%, which is the highest since March 2020 with 14,021 patients recovering during the last 24 hours till 8:00 am. The active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.48%.

The weekly positivity rate stood at 1.22%, less than 2% for the last 33 days. The daily positivity rate is 1.03%, less than 2% for the last 23 days

The testing capacity has also been substantially ramped up to 60.32 crore in the country.

The new phase of universalisation of the vaccination programme commenced from June 21. Under the programme, the central government made inoculation free of cost for all adults. Vaccines were earlier free for people above 45 years of age.

According to the ministry, more than 70% of the deaths that have been reported are due to comorbidities.

Govt finalises price of Cadila’s child Covid vaccine

The Centre has negotiated a price for Zydus Cadila’s Covid-19 vaccine ZyCoV-D, which will be available in the public immunisation programme in a matter of weeks. This will entail starting vaccinations in children aged 12 and up who have comorbidities.

“The cost of the ZyCoV-D vaccination has been finalised,” stated Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. The manufacturers began production as soon as they received an emergency usage authorization from India’s Drug Controller General.
