The state is now aiming to achieve 100% vaccination to all the states by October 31.

The state of Goa as well Himachal Pradesh has achieved a milestone in terms of vaccination coverage. Both the states have completed 100% vaccination in the first dose of vaccine to its eligible population. The chief minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant has announced that the state has vaccinated all eligible beneficiaries with the first dose. The state is now aiming to achieve 100% vaccination to all the states by October 31.

Sawant said, “We have completed 100% first dose of vaccination in the state and targeting to complete the second dose of vaccination by October 31.”

UTs and districts with 100% coverage

In Union territories, Ladakh, Daman and Diu, and Chandigarh have achieved 100% vaccination with the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to all their eligible population. Bengaluru urban and Wayanad among the districts and Bhubaneswar are the places that also have achieved this feat.

State is prepared

With the fear of the third wave of Covid-19 around, the rise in cases in states like Kerala and Maharashtra is a matter of concern. It becomes furthermore important for states to fast-track the vaccination coverage. The CM of Goa said that the state is taking all safety measures to contain the spread and on the even of Ganesh Chaturthi it has adhered to protocols. The states will also start the process to provide compensation to the kins of those affected by Covid-19. For this, it had announced two schemes- Rs 2 lakh compensation to families of people who have died of the Covid and Rs 5,000 for traditional occupants, whose businesses have suffered due to the pandemic. CM said the state government is processing the 200 applications it has received so far from families of those who have lost their close ones to Covid-19.

On September 9, the state reported 79 new cases. However, no fatalities were there. The death toll in the state stands at 3,212.
