Difference between white fungus and black fungus

Mucormycosis or black fungus is being reported in a few Covid-19 patients during or post recovery. Mucormycosis is caused by a set of micro-organisms known as mucormycetes, which are present naturally in the environment. Black fungus is targeting COVID positive or recovered patients because COVID affects the immune system and weak immunity is one of the major things black fungus need to grow. It reduces the body’s ability to fight germs and sickness. It affects sinuses or lungs of individuals if fungal spores are inhaled from the environment. It can attack the skin after a cut, burn, or other type of skin injury. Black fungus, if uncared for can lead to serious disease.

White fungus on the other hand, shows Covid-like symptoms but tests negative for the virus. Reportedly, it can be diagnosed through CT-Scan or X-ray. The new cases of this infection have been reported in Patna, Bihar. Just like black fungus, white fungus is caused due to low immunity. However, it’s impact is not just limited to lungs or breathing.

Which one is more deadly
Reportedly, white fungus is more deadly than black fungus since it can impact kidneys, intestines, private parts, nails, skin and mouth besides lungs. Both infections, if find their way in lungs of people having weak immunity can be fatal.
