India Post, the world’s largest postal network, has invited applications for recruitment of the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) posts. This recruitment drive is being conducted to fill a total of 266 vacancies. Through this process, India Post will fill vacancies in Branch Post Master (BPM), Assistant Branch Post Master (ABPM) and Dak Sevak (DS) posts in the various districts under the Jammu and Kashmir circle. There are a total of 23 postal circles with more than 1.54 lakh post offices across India.

The application process began on September 30, 2021. Eligible and interested candidates can apply online till October 29, 2021.

Vacancy details

The recruitment drive is being conducted to fill 266 vacancies. Take a look at category-wise vacancy details:

– Unreserved: 119 posts

– Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 24 posts

– Other Backward Class (OBC): 65 posts

– Scheduled Castes (SC): 29 posts

– Scheduled Tribes (ST): 23 posts

– Person with Disability-A (PwD-A): 02 posts

– Person with Disability-B (PwD-B): 01 posts

– Person with Disability-C (PWD-C): 03 posts

Eligibility criteria

– Educational qualification:

i) Secondary school examination pass certificate of 10th standard with pass marks in mathematics, local language and English;

(ii) Compulsory knowledge of the local language.

– Age limit:

Between 18 years to 40 years as on August 23, 2021. Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable for SC, ST, OBC and divyang candidates as per government guidelines.

– Knowledge of cycling:

Knowledge of cycling is a prerequisite condition for all GDS posts.

Salary

1) Level 1 in time-related continuity allowance (TRCA) slab

BPM: Rs 12,000 per month

ABPM/Dak Sevak: Rs 10,000 per month

2) Level 2 in time-related continuity allowance (TRCA) slab

BPM: Rs 14,500 per month

ABPM/Dak Sevak: Rs 12,000 per month

However, the initial fixation of TRCA (Time Related Continuity Allowance) will be done on the first stage of Level-I of the respective category.

Selection process

Selection will be made as per the automatically generated merit list. Only marks obtained in class 10 standard of approved boards aggregated to percentage to the accuracy of 4 decimals will be the criteria for finalising the selection.

Unreserved/ OBC/ Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) male/ trans-man: Rs. 100

SC/ ST/ Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category and female/ trans-woman: No Fee

Application process

Interested and eligible candidates will have to register themselves in the portal through https://indiapost.gov.in or https://appost.in/gdsonline on or before October 29, 2021. Only one registration is to be made for one candidate.
