The Income Tax Department has announced that it has issued refunds of over Rs 70,120 crore till September 6, 2021. In over 24.70 lakh cases, Rs 16,753 crore has been issued as personal income tax refunds. Over Rs 53,367 crore worth of corporate tax refunds, have been issued in 1.38 lakh cases.
The Income Tax Department tweeted, “CBDT (Central Board of Direct Taxes) issues refunds of over Rs 70,120 crore to more than 26.09 lakh taxpayers between 1st April, 2021 to 6th September, 2021.”

On September 4, the Income Tax Department had announced that over Rs 67,400 crore worth refunds have been issued by CBDT in five months of the current fiscal. On September 4, 2021, the I-T department tweeted that “CBDT issues refunds of over Rs 67,401 crore to more than 23.99 lakh taxpayers between 1st April, 2021 to 30th August, 2021.”
