The Aadhaar card has become an integral part of our lives. The 12-digit unique identification number provided by UIDAI is required almost everywhere and any discrepancy in the records may have adverse consequence.

Now you can update your date of birth (DoB) in Aadhaar records online through 9 simple steps. To make any changes you have to submit a valid document that includes your name.

Mobile number

Your mobile number must be registered with Aadhaar if you have to take the benefit of this service.

“Now you can update your Date of Birth in your Aadhaar, through Aadhaar Self-Service Update Portal. Upload the scanned copy of your original document and apply,” Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) twitted.

Required documents

To update date of birth in Aadhaar card, you have to submit one of the 15 valid date of birth proofs.

These are: birth certificate, Senior Secondary Leaving Certificate book/certificate, passport, certificate of date of birth issued by group A gazetted officer on UIDAI standard certificate format for enrolment/ update, a certificate (on UIDAI standard certificate format for enrolment/ update) or ID card having photo and date of birth (DoB) duly signed and issued by a government authority, photo ID card having DoB issued by recognized educational institution and PAN card.

Others are a marksheet issued by any government board or university, government photo ID card/photo identity card issued by PSU containing DoB, central/ state pension payment order, central government health service scheme photo card or ex-servicemen contributory health scheme photo card, school leaving certificate (SLC)/ school transfer certificate (TC), containing name and DoB, extract of school records issued by head of school containing name, DoB and photograph.

Some more documents are certificate of identity containing name, DoB and photo issued by recognized educational institution signed by head of institute on UIDAI standard certificate format for enrolment/ update, certificate of identity containing name, DoB and photograph issued by Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) on UIDAI standard certificate format for enrolment/ update.

9 steps

UIDAI has shared a direct link on its twitter handle that lands one in UIDAI’s self-service update portal directly. One has to perform some simple steps.

1. Log in to https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/ssup/.
2. Click on ‘Proceed To Update Aadhaar’
3. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and captcha code.
4. Now click on ‘Send OTP’.
5. You will get an OTP on your registered mobile number.
6. Enter the 6-digit OTP and click on ‘Login’.
7. A page will open with your Aadhaar details. Select date of birth option to change it.
8. Upload the scanned copy of related valid documents and click on ‘Submit’.
9. After successful verification, your date of birth in the Aadhaar card will be changed.

The service is not free of cost. UIDAI will charge you Rs 50 for each update request.
