On Wednesday, Ola Electric started the sale process of its electric scooter S1 which comes in two trims, Ola S1 and S1 Pro. These are available for purchase on the Ola App at present, but not on the website. Though the sales were  supposed to start on September 8, the sale was postponed by a week to September 15 due to the technical difficulties in making the purchase live for customers. The company said in a statement that it was selling in batches, and prioritising users based on their dates of reservation.

Notification through SMS

In a blog post, the company said an advance of Rs 20,000 has to be paid by customers for purchasing the electric scooters, and the rest before shipment. One can also avail convenient EMI options, while making the payment. It also said that advance is completely refundable if a customer wishes to cancel booking. Also, cancellations can be done until the scooter is shipped.

Further, customers will get a notification through email and SMS, once the purchase windows opens. They can initiate the purchase process by visiting the updated Ola app and clicking on the Ola Scooter banner home page, the blog said. They will be notified of the tentative delivery dates within 72 hours of purchase.

Ola co-founder Bhavish Aggarwal tweeted that “Bring the revolution home! Ola S1 purchase is rolling out now! We’re opening it in the order of reservation. Look for your invitation email or check the Ola app to know when it’s live for you! #JoinTheRevolution”.

Ola is providing insurance offerings to buyers through its financial services arm, and can choose policies from various insurance partners. They can also insure their Ola scooter during purchase.
