The sales of Ola’s S1 electric scooters have crossed Rs 1,100 crore in two days, stated Ola co-founder Bhavish Aggarwal. The purchase window for the electric vehicle has been closed now, however, it will reopen before Diwali on November 1. The sale of Ola S1 and S1 Pro had started on September 15. The company sold scooters worth Rs 600 crore on day one.

On its sales, Agarwal tweeted, ” Day 2 of EV era was even better than Day 1! Crossed ₹1100Cr in sales in 2 days! Purchase window will reopen on Nov 1 so reserve now if you haven’t already.”

Earlier, the e-scooter sale was to begin on September 8. Due to technical issues on the website, the company postponed it by a week to September 15. The scooters are slated for delivery from October 2021. Once the buyer makes the payment, he/she will be conveyed about the delivery of the vehicle within 72 hours. The vehicles can now be bought on the Ola App only.

The Ola Electric S1 and S1 Pro scooters were launched in the market on August 15 with a starting price of Rs 1 lakh. The company had witnessed an overwhelming response from customers after the launch. The two variants, S1 and S1 Pro, are priced at Rs 99,999 and Rs 1,29,999, respectively, including ex-showroom FAME II subsidies and excluding state subsidies. Ola Electric started pre-launch bookings in July with a refundable amount of Rs 499 and had received an overwhelming response in just 24 hours.

The company will establish a manufacturing plant, in Tamil Nadu. The plant will be spread across 500 acres and an investment of Rs 2,400 crore will be made. The company will gradually scale up its annual production capacity from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. Once it is complete, the plant is expected to produce 15% of the world’s entire total two-wheeler production, with an annual capacity of one crore units.
