The Covid-19 onslaught shook the foundations of the world. Like every other country, India too struggled to cope with the disruptions the pandemic brought.

But it has managed to lead the way on the vaccination count and despite numerous roadblocks, has achieved the 100-crore vaccine milestone in less than 11 months.

In his address to the nation today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again reiterated his government’s success in ensuring that the vaccination drive has been conducted without any class divide.

Modi has always been quick to point out that his government has always tried to ensure a level-playing field and this vaccination drive is a potent indicator of that claim.

The rapid pace of vaccination has also made its impact on the economic outlook and the recovery story looks far better than it was a couple of months ago.

There’s optimism among citizens in moving ahead after tackling disruptions in every sphere of life.

While it is undoubtedly a team effort, the role played by the much-maligned ‘clarion calls’ cannot be brushed aside. Though such urges have been subjected to controversy on social media, it has helped in achieving the end result of vaccinating a section of citizens.

The country has suffered a lot due to the Covid-19 crisis and although no amount of solace would be enough for bereaved families, a confident leader does make a difference in the way a nation tackles an emergency.

With the world’s glare fixated on certain legacy issues, achieving the vaccination milestone of 100 crore in this time period is laudable.

There have been hiccups in this journey of navigating a deadly pandemic but history will remember this milestone and other countries too can learn from India’s experience of inoculating citizens.
