Victims of Balasore Tragedy will get faster claim settlement of life insurance policies, announced Life Insurance Corporation of India, Chairperson, Siddhartha Mohanty. LIC has eased the claim process for the victims of the Balasore train accidents. In a late evening statement on Sunday, Mohanty announced relaxation measures  to the claim settlement process for the kin of the victims.

Casualty list, death certificate to be accepted as proof of death: LIC

Mohanty, said, LIC will accept casualty list published by Railway Authorities, Police or any State or Central Government Authorities or registered death certificate to initiate faster claim settlement of claimants of LIC policies.

To provide financial relief to victims’ families, LIC has also set up special help desks at branches for expedite claim settlement of claimants.

LIC is itself reaching out to victims’ families to initiate claim settlement process.

Mohanty, said, the largest life insurance company of the country was committed to supporting those affected. He expressed grief and said LIC will make all efforts to ensure victims’ families get all assistance and financial relief. LIC will leave no stones untouched to mitigate their hardship.

How the tragic accident unfolded:

On June 2, 2023, The Shalimar Chennai Coromandel Express (12841) had entered a wrong track and hit a goods train in Balasore district of Odisha. Hitherto, more than 260 people have been killed in the tragic accident. While, around 900 passengers have suffered injury.
