After a correction of over 2.5% from the peak, what’s in store for Indian markets this week

Trading could be volatile in the forthcoming week as traders roll over positions in the F&O segment from the near month October series to November series. The October 2021 F&O contracts will expire on Thursday, October 28, 2021. Investors will continue to watch a fresh round of corporate earnings. Besides, trends in global stock markets, the movement of the rupee against the dollar and crude oil prices will dictate trend on the bourses in the near term. Investment by foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) and domestic institutional investors (DIIs) will also be watched.

Markets will react to Q2 results of Reliance Industries (RIL) and ICICI Bank on Monday.

Among key results, Tech Mahindra will declare its result on October 25, 2021. Ambuja Cements, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, Cipla, Kotak Mahindra Bank will declare their September 2021 quarterly earnings on October 26, 2021.

Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone, L&T, Bajaj Auto, IndusInd Bank, ITC, Maruti Suzuki India, SBI Life Insurance Company, Titan Company, will declare their September 2021 quarterly earnings on October 26, 2021.

Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Holdings & Investment, DLF, Interglobe Aviation, NTPC, Tata Power Company, will announce their September 2021 quarterly earnings on October 28, 2021.

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, GAIL (India), Vedanta will unveil their September 2021 quarterly earnings on October 29, 2021.

In the primary market, FSN E-Commerce Ventures, operator of Nykaa beauty stores, has fixed the price band of Rs 1,085-Rs 1,125 for its maiden public share sale. The initial public offering (IPO) will remain open on October 28 and close on November 1.

On the coronavirus front, India has seen a significant dip in its coronavirus caseload over the past few weeks. However, health care workers and policymakers are warning of a possible third wave during the winter months. India crossed the milestone of 100 crore doses in Covid-19 vaccination. The country achieved the feat in just about nine months after the beginning of the nationwide vaccination drive in January. The country has so far vaccinated 75% of its adult population with the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and 30% with both doses (fully vaccinated).

Overseas, China’s industrial profits data for September will be announced on October 27, 2021.

The Bank of Japan (BoJ) will announce its interest rate decision on October 28, 2021.

The United States Durable Goods Orders for September will be announced on October 27, 2021.
