Sensex gains 69 points, Nifty ends at record 17,380

The overall market breadth was positive as 1,934 stocks advanced on the BSE, while 1,309 declined and 153 remained unchanged

Domestic equity benchmarks settled marginally higher on Tuesday led by gains in index banks, IT and media stocks. Sensex settled at 58,247.09, up 69.33 points or 0.12%, while Nifty advanced 24.70 points or 0.14% to 17,380. IndusInd Bank, rising over 4%, was the top Sensex gainer followed by HCL Tech, Bajaj Auto, Tech Mahindra, L&T and Kotak Bank. Nestle India, UltraTech Cement, HUL, HDFC, Tata Steel and Bajaj Finserv were among the laggards. Most sectoral indices closed in the green. Nifty Media, surging over 14%, was the top sectoral gainer followed by Nifty Private Bank and Nifty Auto. On the other hand, Nifty Metal, Nifty FMCG and Nifty finance ended in the red.
