Indian benchmark equity indices settled in the green on Thursday led by gains in index heavyweights Titan, TCS, ICICI Bank and Infosys amid a positive trend in global markets.
Sensex ended 488.10 points or 0.82% higher at 59,677.83, while the NSE Nifty advanced 144.35 points or 0.82% to 17,790.35.
Titan, surging over 10%, was the top Sensex gainer followed by M&M, Maruti, IndusInd Bank, Asian Paints, Sun Pharma, HCL, TCS, Tech Mahindra and ICICI Bank.
On the other hand, Dr Reddy’s, HDFC, Bajaj Finserv, Nestle India and HUL were among the laggards.
All sectoral indices settled in the green. Nifty Realty, closing over 6%, higher was the top Sensex gainer followed by Nifty Auto, up 4.3% and Nifty IT rising 1.8%.
Overall market breadth was positive as 2,216 stocks advanced on the BSE, while 1,084 declined and 143 remained unchanged.
