Different e-commerce sites are selling old phones at cheaper rates by refurbishing these cellphones i.e. repairing and upgrading the products.

With rising inflation, second hand products are becoming the first choice of people. As new products are expensive, the market of second hand products has grown rapidly. In  second hand products, smartphones are among the most popular. Different e-commerce sites selling old phones at cheaper rates by refurbishing them i.e. repairing and upgrading them.

If we compare the prices of new and old smartphones, there is a huge difference. The good thing is that these phones are not very old. You can buy a phone which has been bafrely used for  a year, that looks just like a new one..and is also much cheaper than a new one. Let us understand the difference in prices with some examples. While the price of Samsung Galaxy S22 5G phone is Rs 60,300, the price of the refurbished model on online sites is almost half i.e. Rs 35,000. Similarly, while the price of the new iPhone 13 is around Rs 70,000, its refurbished model is available on online sites for around Rs 42,000.

India is currently one of the largest markets for second hand phones. But with the increasing business, some issues have also increased.. If you want to buy a second hand smartphone, then you must keep some things in mind. What are those things, let’s find out:

You can buy second hand phones from local sellers or from online platforms like OLX, Facebook Marketplace and Quickr. Wherever you buy, pay attention to the security factor while buying.

Check the proof of purchase of the phone. Always ask for the phone bill from the seller. A valid bill will be a proof that the phone is not stolen. In case of online bill, please verify with the platform to ensure that no tampering or changes have been made in the bill.

Ask for the original box of the phone.. Match the serial and IMEI numbers of the phone, its box and the bill. The details should be same in all of them. Verify IMEI number.

You can check the remaining warranty period or expiry date of the second hand phone. With this you can find out both the exact purchase date of the phone and how old it is. You can verify the remaining warranty period by using the IMEI number of the phone. Many mobile phone companies provide the facility to check warranty online.
