India’s population has crossed that of China this year. Now we have become a big family of more than 140 crore people. But do you know what is the average monthly income of Indian families and where do Indian families spend their earnings? Do you know how many members are there in an average family and how many earning people are there in them? Very few people would know how many people are dependent on the earning members in an average Indian family?

In 2022, Money9 had brought the country’s largest personal finance survey to get this ground level information related to the finances of Indian families. In this series, Money9 has now brought another survey which will present before you all the information related to the finances of Indians. Last year’s survey revealed that the average monthly income of Indian families was Rs 23,000, this time the survey will tell whether the income has increased or decreased compared to last year. The survey will also tell which states have more rich families and which have more poor families.

Like last time, this time too it will be known that till now Indian families are fighting only for livelihood and how many have reached luxury lifestyle. This time, it will also be known in the survey that in which states, how many families are planning to buy a car in the next 6 months and where efforts are being made to buy  smartphones.

This survey of 2023 is bigger and more comprehensive than last year. The survey covered about 115 districts in 20 states. Conducted from August to November in 10 different languages, the survey collected information from more than 35 thousand families from more than 1,170 villages or urban wards about their earnings, expenses, savings and investments. In the 2022 survey, more than 31,000 families were surveyed, that is, the sample size of this time’s survey is about 10 percent larger as compared to the 2022 survey. The responsibility of the survey was handed over to the reputed agency RTI International which has been conducting such surveys for big institutions like World Bank and Facebook. This survey of Money9 will soon be broadcast on TV9 network’s Hindi channel TV9 Bharatvarsh.
