Sanjiv Bhasin shares ‘vighnaharta’ strategy for investors in the current market scenario

The best of market rally has played out and a fast and furious correction may be coming, says Sanjiv Bhasin, Director, IIFL Securities

The volatile week gone by, saw the benchmark indices Nifty and the Sensex ending flat with the Nifty Bank underperforming. However, midcaps fared better and ended the week almost 0.25% higher. More and more market experts, however, are turning wary and believe the markets are for a long-overdue correction which may be coming soon. Sanjiv Bhasin, Director, IIFL Securities spoke to Money9 on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi to talk about a ‘Vighnaharta’ strategy that investors can adopt.

“Global liquidity and our vaccination drive have led Indian markets to be in a very sweet spot, however, a large part of the rally has played out. However, for new investors, there can’t be a better asset class than equities. If one compares all the asset classes including gold, real estate, fixed income, equity will outperform over the next 2-3 years”, he said

He also believes that in the near term the markets can correct and first-time investors can start by doing SIPs (Systematic Investment Plans) in mutual funds.

In direct equities, he believes new investors should first look at some themes like banks and infrastructure by seeking professional advice.

He also believes that one must not wait and time the markets.

“Entering the markets is key. First-time investors should just get in the markets and begin owning the right stocks and wealth will be generated gradually”, he added.
