If you’re considering buying a car, here’s good news for you—it’s raining bumper discounts! From hatchbacks to SUVs, heavy discounts are being offered by giants like Maruti, Hyundai, Mahindra, and Tata. Reportedly, it’s after nearly 4 years of waiting that cars are receiving such substantial discounts.

Many popular models are benefiting from discounts ranging from ₹35,000 to ₹60,000. Let’s find out which company and model have what discounts?

There’s also a considerable buzz regarding discount on Hyundai Inster. But before that, speaking of hatchbacks. As per a report by The Times of India, citing sources from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), Maruti Suzuki’s older model of Swift is getting discounts ranging from ₹15,000 to ₹20,000.

Heavy discounts after 4 long years

In other hatchbacks, Maruti’s Alto K10 is getting discounts up to ₹42,000. The highest discounts are on its manual petrol variant. Wagon R is getting benefits in the range of ₹25,000 to ₹30,000, and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is offering benefits in the range of ₹18,000 to ₹35,000.

On the sedan front, Hyundai Aura is offering benefits ranging from ₹23,000 to ₹40,000. Honda City has discounts up to ₹50,000 while Honda Amaze offers up to ₹40,000 discounts. This includes cash discounts, corporate loyalty, and exchange programs.

Apart from hatchbacks and sedans, discounts are also being given on some expensive electric vehicles and SUVs. Hyundai Alcazar is offering discounts ranging from ₹45,000 to ₹65,000. Mahindra XUV400 EV is offering benefits up to ₹1.5 lakh, while Honda City eHEV is providing benefits up to ₹65,000.

Why the heavy discounts?

The main reason for these discounts is the increasing inventory with dealers. President Manish Raj Singhania of the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) says that sales have been sluggish in June and July. Hence, higher discounts are natural. But there’s also an increase in inventory levels. There has been an increase in inventory levels over the past three months, which is at 55-60 days.

According to the report, Maruti’s Baleno is offering ₹36,000, Mahindra Bolero Neo is providing ₹82,000 and Bolero offers ₹54,000 benefits. Similarly, Tata’s Nexon and Tiago are providing benefits of up to ₹56,000 and ₹35,000 respectively.

Among these discounts, there’s considerable discussion about Hyundai’s EV Hyundai Inster’s launch. Hyundai has unveiled its smallest electric vehicle (EV), Inster, at the Busan International Mobility Show. It will compete with Tata’s Punch EV and is estimated to be priced around ₹12 lakh.

Some cars are also on waiting lists, with no discounts. These include Mahindra Thar, Maruti’s new Swift, and Ertiga. So if you’re thinking of buying a car, this could be a good time for you. If you negotiate with the dealer, you might even get some additional discounts.
