Electric vehicles are one of the most important and discussed topics around the world at present due to their various benefits. If we talk about India, according to media reports right now our country has over 5,00,000 electric vehicles including private cars, public transport buses, electric two-wheelers, and three-wheelers.

Many industries want to reduce their cost and to move a step towards supporting a sustainable environment around. Owing to which Amazon had announced two days back about deploying nearly 100 Mahindra Treo Zor three-wheelers as part of its broader goal of including 10,000 electric vehicles by 2025 in India, which was announced in the Climate Pledge signed by Amazon.

Flipkart too announced on Wednesday to assign more than 25,000 electric vehicles to achieve 100% transition to electric mobility by 2030 in their supply chain. It has already started deploying electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers in select cities including Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Guwahati, and Pune. The company’s fleet will also include electric four-wheelers.

The EVs will be designed and assembled in India. The company has partnered with multiple EV makers including Hero Electric for Nyx, Mahindra Electric for Treo Zor and Piaggio for Ape E-Xtra FX. to deploy its first and last-mile delivery fleet across India.

“In this journey of making our logistics fleet completely electric by 2030, we will collaborate and work with leading local players to procure and deploy electric vehicles while supporting the required infrastructure growth,” Amitesh Jha, Senior Vice President Ekart and Marketplace, Flipkart, said in a statement.

In the last one year, the company has worked towards creating a network of ecosystem partners across charging providers, skill development agencies, aggregators, and vehicle manufacturers.

The online retailer owned by Walmart Inc. will also create a charging infrastructure close to its supply chain facilities, a senior company executive said, adding that the company has started deploying 450 EVs, both two and three-wheelers, in several cities. . The company will also conduct awareness programs to encourage its delivery executives to use EVs.
