The Supreme Court has given protection to Amazon Prime Video’s India head Aparna Purohit from arrest in the FIRs lodged against her over the web series Tandav.

This is a welcome step as the guidelines issued by the government do not have any provisions for penal action.

But it is now incumbent upon the digital platforms to self-censor the content so that sentiments of people are not hurt. This will ensure that the government does not intervene in such matters and the creative freedom of artists is not curtailed.
