Bihar to incentivise setting up pollution testing centers; check your eligibility

There is a dearth of pollution testing centers in Bihar. There are more than 1000 pollution centers in 387 of the 534 blocks of the state, but remaining147 blocks lack the facility. Therefore, the state government has announced an assistance of up to Rs 3 lakh each for opening a pollution testing center in these blocks.

The Bihar government will provide assistance of up to 50% of the cost of setting up the pollution center to the beneficiaries through incentives. The upper limit of this assistance is capped at Rs 3 lakh.

Vehicles without Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates may have to pay up to Rs 10,000 fine. To avoid paying fine, you need to visit the authorized pollution testing center and get the certificate.

Following amendment in Bihar Motor Rules, 1992, the fee for getting license, renewal and application for setting up the pollution testing centers has been slashed. Online arrangements have also been made for this. Anyone who has passed class 12th (Science) can run such centers in the state.

Bihar State Transport department has prepared the proposal and it will soon be tabled in the cabinet meeting.
