New Income Tax e-filing website launched, check details and what’s in it for you

The much-hyped new portal of the Income Tax filing website is now live but not before being subject to a flood of memes on social media. The new website is expected to provide a hassle-free experience to taxpayers, with a dashboard facility for all interactions, queries and pending actions. The new website — www.incometax.gov.in — has been trending on social media and taxpayers’ interest was piqued earlier in the day when the Income Tax India Twitter posted a teaser tweet at 9 in the morning. 

“We are as excited about the new portal as our users! We are at the final stages in the roll-out of the new portal and it will be available shortly. We appreciate your patience as we work towards making it operational soon,” Income Tax India posted on its Twitter handle.

Features

The new portal will offer a bunch of new features like free ITR preparation software and call centre assistance facility to taxpayers. Detailed enablement of pre-filling with salary income, interest, dividend and capital gains will be available after TDS and SFT statements are uploaded.

The mobile app will also be released subsequent to the initial launch of the portal, to enable taxpayers to get familiar with the various features.
