When it comes to consumer technology products, 2021 aims to be big on the make in India and Indian brands flooding the markets with options over the big Chinese tech giants already operating. However, it is no secret that many Indian brands like Micromax and Lava still rely on China for the component supply. The 100% Made-in-India products as a statement are still open to interpretation on which side you like to look upon.

Lava is now offering three different screen sizes and the price range is also pretty nominal — between Rs 9,000 to Rs 15,000.

Online learning has seen a surge in the adoption of technology for learning, due to the restrictions put in place to curb the rise of the coronavirus pandemic. Lava plans to capitalise on this trend with its three tablets — Magnum XL, Aura and Ivory.

These Android tablets boast features like big screen size, powerful battery and superior audio quality. The company is also selling these on the popular e-commerce platform Flipkart.

Let’s take a look at what each of these tablets has to offer:

Lava Magnum XL

The Lava Magnum XL sports a 10.1-inch display and a 6100 mAh battery. The screen is an IPS LCD with 390 nits of brightness. It has a 2MP front camera and 5 MP rear camera as well, which frankly isn’t much in this day and age even for a tablet. The storage capacity is 32GB that is expandable up to 256 GB. At its heart is a MediaTek 2GHz quad-core processor, that offers decent reliability. As a pure learning tablet, the Lava Magnum XL makes good sense as it comes in a dark grey shade and metallic finish and is priced at Rs 15,499.

Lava Aura

The Lava Aura has a smaller 8-inch display and a 5100 mAh battery. The tablet comes with similar storage to the Magnum XL, however, the camera specs on the Aura are 8 MP for the rear main camera and 5 MP front camera. The processor on the Lava Aura is also the same as that of the one offered on the Magnum XL, and it’s priced lower at Rs 12,999.

Lava Ivory

The smallest offering on the new range of tablets is the Lava Ivory. It sports a 7-inch display and the storage on offer is also low at 16GB which can be extended up to 256 GB. The device has a 5MP primary camera and a 2MP Selfie camera and is priced at Rs 9499.

Apart from just launching these new tablets, Lava has also partnered with EduSaksham to offer some free courses for the students. There has been a sudden surge in the demand for tablets, especially in the education sector since the pandemic hit the world. Lava plans to capitalize on this trend, however, with Samsung and Apple offering student discounts on Galaxy Tab’s and iPad the consumer behavior does tend to shift towards these brands. For anyone on a budget and strictly looking at buying a tablet for online learning needs, the new Lava tablet range makes a lot of sense.
