1. Lenovo launches ‘Smart Clock Essential’ at Rs 4,499

Lenovo has launched a new version of Lenovo Smart Clock – the Smart Clock Essential at Rs 4,499. The device features a 4-inch LED display and comes with a Google Assistant support as well. The device can also be used to set alarms.

2. Google takes down ‘UberCheats’ from Chrome app store

Following Uber’s complain, Google has pulled down an application called ‘UberCheats’ from the Chrome app store. The app was launched by an Uber Eats driver and let’s Uber drivers find out if they are being underpaid by the company by tracking tips and miles traveled.

3. WhatsApp to continue with new Privacy Policy despite user concerns

Facebook owned messaging platform WhatsApp has said that the new terms of service for its Business accounts won’t be scrapped as they are important to keep the platform free.

4. Dell leads PC sales in Q4, overtakes HP: IDC As per International Data Corporation, Indian PC market witnessed a 27% YOY growth in Q4 2020. Dell overtook HP and witnessed a 57.1% YOY growth. As per the report, the Indian PC market saw 7.9 million Notebook shipments, the most ever.

5. Google TV will now support Apple TV+ streaming service

Google has announced that it will now start supporting Apple TV+ starting from Chromecast. Apple TV+ was first launched in November 2019 for Apple users and the service was later rolled out for other platforms as well.

6. New IT rules call for stringent social media regulation

According to new changes in the IT rules, Social media companies will now be required to take down ‘unlawful’ content in just 36 hours, twice as fast as before. Then companies will also have to be more responsive and address user concerns regarding their personal data.

7. CEOs of tech giants to testify before US Congress

CEOs of Facebook, Google and Twitter will again have to testify before the US congress over their role in failing to curb misinformation to spread on their platforms. Th hearing is scheduled for March 25 and will be the seventh time Mark Zuckerberg would testify before the Congress and the fifth time for Twitter CEO Dorsey.

8. Microsoft announces launch of MS Office 2021

Microsoft has announced that it will start rolling out MS Office 2021 later this year. This comes as the company continues to invest heavily in its cloud services.

9. Australia backs new law despite Facebook blackout

Despite Facebook’s intimidation by blacking out news from its platform in Australia, PM Scott Morrison reiterated his stand and said that his government will go ahead with new law and also had received support from various international leaders.
