Aadhaar number is one of the valid KYC (Know Your Customer) requirements to open a bank account. But linking Aadhaar number with bank account is not mandatory for the general public.

Only if anybody wants to derive benefits of government schemes like LPG subsidy does linking Aadhaar number with bank account becomes mandatory. Otherwise, you may be unable to get the money credited to your bank account.

Therefore, it is very important for a beneficiary of a government scheme to know whether his or her Aadhaar is linked with a bank account or not.

The entire process has become very easy now. One can check whether the two are linked through UIDAI. To get this benefit, linking of phone number with Aadhaar number is a primary condition.

Here how you can check

— Log in at direct UIDAI link — https://resident.uidai.gov.in/bank-mapper

— Put your 12 digit Aadhaar number or 16 digit Virtual ID number

— Enter security code

— Click at ‘Send OTP’

— OTP will be sent on your Aadhaar-registered mobile number

— Enter OTP in the specific box

— Click on the ‘Submit’ option.

After successfully completing this process, link status will be displayed on the computer monitor or phone screen.
