SBI customers need to check out this important update

State Bank of India (SBI) customers will not be able to use the bank’s digital platforms due to a scheduled maintenance activity, it announced on Twitter. SBI’s digital banking platforms such as Yono, Yono Lite, internet banking and Yono Business will not be available for use between 22.45 hrs on August 6 and 01.15 hrs on August 7, the lender said.

This is a regular technical upgradation process and the bank does it every month to ensure its customers do not fall prey to phishing activities. This planned shutdown in the first in the month of August. SBI had carried out similar maintenance activities In June and July. 

Safeguarding customers 

Recently, SBI launched a new security feature for the customers who use mobile banking. This called ‘SIM binding’ feature. To protect its 46 crore customers from fraudsters, the nation’s largest lender has launched this unique feature first time in the country.

With the SIM Binding feature, Yono and Yono Lite will work only on those devices which mobile numbers are registered with the Bank.

No other phone number or device can access the mobile banking feature any bank account.

The number of customers using internet banking and mobile banking stand roughly at 89 million and 20 million respectively. Yono-the integrated digital and lifestyle platform by SBI has been downloading about 74 million. Yono has witnesses’ 9 million logins per day.

Bank fraud data

In FY21, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) reported bank frauds amounting to Rs 1.38 trillion. This was a decrease from Rs 1.85 trillion frauds in 2020.
