Airfares sky rocket on Holi, Good Friday holidays

Holi is just a few days away, and many people are planning to either celebrate at home or go out. However, the increase in airfares could make your journey expensive. Actually, there is a long weekend in March. Due to the holidays of Holi and Good Friday, hotel bookings have also increased. According to travel platform Cleartrip, hotel bookings for the Holi weekend have increased by 3.5 times, while during the Good Friday week, there has been a 3.7 times increase.

Apart from hotels, travelers are also having to loosen their pockets for air travel. Airfares for the Holi weekend have increased by 20-80 percent. According to figures from ixigo, booking a Delhi-Mumbai one-way flight 48 hours before Holi costs around Rs 6,400. Whereas, if someone books the flight 15 days in advance, he will have to pay Rs 5,200.

The price of a one-way flight on the Delhi-Goa route during the Holi weekend is Rs 10,934, while booking 15 days in advance, the price was Rs 6,096. In addition, the Mumbai-Srinagar route saw the highest increase of 78 percent. An one-way flight from Mumbai to Srinagar booked eight days ago costs Rs 18,288, while booking the ticket 15 days in advance will cost the traveler Rs 10,240.

Hotel prices increased by 18-22 percent

Industry experts say that the price of hotel rooms during the Holi week has increased by about 18 to 22 percent. Budget hotels are in high demand. Generally, people are choosing to stay for 2 nights. There has also been an increase in hotel bookings. Experts believe that due to better connectivity, increasing disposable income, and growing aspirations, people have developed a greater interest in traveling. According to online travel, people are booking more for places like Goa, Jaipur, Pondicherry, Ooty, Srinagar, Mahabaleshwar, Corbett, and Wayanad.
