Jio Cinema premium annual plan price has been reduced by 50 per cent to Rs 299. This plan was earlier available at Rs 599 annually. This is the same plan, the monthly version of which, was launched few days ago at Rs 29 on the OTT app. It essentially translated to less than Re 1 per day. Reliance had created havoc in entire entertainment industry as no other OTT app would provide such premium service at such a low rate. And now JioCinema has also reduced cost of the annual plan known as ‘Premium Annual.’

There are two options to subscribe to the premium plan, one is monthly and the other one is yearly. It is frugal to subscribe to the annual plan as it is available at the rate of Rs 299, which translates to Rs 24 per month. While, if you subscribe to the monthly version, then, it would cost you Rs 29 every month. So, the yearly plan is cheaper than monthly version by 20 per cent when counted on monthly basis.

Currently, there are only three types of plans available on JioCinema. The first two we mentioned above. While, the third one is family plan which has only monthly version. It costs Rs 89. Reliance claims that viewers can get 40 per cent discount on this plan currently on its OTT app as original cost of the family plan is Rs 149.

The OTT player is owned by Viacom18, a RIL group company. The streaming giant had earlier collaborated with Disney-Hotstar to take over latter’s TV and streaming assets in India. With the merger, RIL is expected to command lion’s share in India’s TV and digital industry business which was valued at $13 billion in 2023.
