According to him, the Realme Phones have a feature called “Enhanced Intelligent Services” that collects app usage data and device-related information without the user’s consent.
Government investigation Replying to Rishi Bagree’s tweet, Minister of State for Information Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, stated that the government will investigate and examine this case. He also shared a screenshot of the “Auto-enabled Enhanced Intelligent Services” feature in Realme phones, which serves as evidence against the Chinese smartphone brand.
How is data theft happening? Rishi Bagree has attributed data theft to the Enhanced Intelligent Services feature. In our phones, we have several essential features, and Enhanced Intelligent Services is one of them, which provides convenience in using the phone. However, it also collects users’ personal data without their knowledge.
Is Samsung also involved in data theft? However, it is not only Chinese companies that collect data in this manner; reputable South Korean company Samsung is also included in this list. In Samsung’s Galaxy S20FE, there is a default feature called “Send diagnostic data” that is always enabled, collecting your information.
Nevertheless, it has not been confirmed why smartphone companies are collecting users’ data. If these features are for users’ convenience, their consent should be mandatory.
