India came with strong reaction on British rules and had warned UK on reciprocal measures on September 19, unless the UK addresses these norms while describing these norms against Indians as  discriminatory.

People who are fully vaccinated and want to travel abroad, will have their date of birth printed on their CoWin certificate amid ongoing discussions between India and UK over Covid vaccination certificates, the government said on Saturday. At present, the certificate only mentions the beneficiary’s age based on the year of birth among others. Starting next week, this new feature is likely to be introduced in compliance with the WHO norms.

The Indian-made version of the AstraZeneca vaccine Covishield has been included in the new travel guidelines amended by the UK on Wednesday in its updated list of approved Covid-19 vaccines.

Following India’s strong criticism over the UK’s refusal to recognise Covishield, London has included the vaccine in its updated international travel advisory. This was after a strong criticism from India over UK’s refusal to recognise Covishield and include its updated international travel advisory.

But the Indian travellers who are vaccinated with two doses of Covishield would still have to undergo 10 days of quarantine in the UK notwithstanding the amendment, UK officials had clarified on Wednesday saying the inclusion of the vaccine would not make much of a difference.

Further the UK government in a statement clarified that Covishield is not a problem, and the country is open to travel and are seeing a lot of people going from India to UK, be it tourists, businessmen or students. It added that there has been a lot of technical discussions on CoWin app and NHS app.
