Petrol, diesel prices remain unchanged after four days of hike, check rates in top cities
Petrol price remained at previous day's level of Rs 91.27 per litre and diesel Rs 81.73 per litre in Delhi
Petrol and diesel prices on May 8 remained static after witnessing rise in the past four days after it crossed the Rs 100-mark in some parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh on May 7.
Fuel prices differ from state to state depending on the incidence of local taxes such as VAT and freight charges. Rajasthan levies the highest value-added tax (VAT) on petrol in the country, followed by Madhya Pradesh.
After today’s revision, a litre of petrol in Delhi will cost Rs 91.27 while diesel will cost Rs 81.73. In Mumbai, it will cost Rs 97.61 and Rs 88.82 for a litre of petrol and diesel, respectively.

For diesel, the central add excise duty up to Rs 31.83 and VAT to Rs 10.99. Besides, the price also includes a dealer commission of a minimum of Rs 2.6 per litre on petrol and Rs 2 on diesel. Any changes in fuel rates are implemented with effect from 6 am each day.
