PM Modi launches key initiatives on completion of one year of National Education Policy

Taking a step further towards the realization of the goals of NEP 2020, Modi announced measures that will make the education sector more accessible.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Thursday on the completion of one year of the new National Education Policy (NEP). Modi launched several key initiatives in the education sector. Taking a step further towards the realization of the goals of NEP 2020, Modi announced measures that will make the education sector more vibrant and accessible.

Key initiatives launched

Following initiatives were launched include by PM Modi

14 engineering colleges in eight states are going to start studies in five Indian languages — Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, and Bangla.

Academic Bank of Credit: This will provide multiple entry and exit options for students in higher education besides first-year engineering programmes in regional languages and guidelines for the internationalisation of higher education.

Vidya Pravesh: A a three-month play-based school preparation module for Grade 1 students.

NISHTHA 2.0, an integrated programme of teacher training designed by the NCERT.

SAFAL (structured assessment for analyzing learning levels) a competency-based assessment framework for Grades 3, 5, and 8 in CBSE schools were also announced.

Indian sign language was introduced as a subject at the secondary level.

A website dedicated to artificial intelligence was also launched.

The event also witnessed the launch of the National Digital Education Architecture (NDEAR) and the National Education Technology Forum (NETF).
