Select private hospitals in Delhi to treat mucormycosis under state health scheme
The move was taken to address the limited capacity of performing surgeries at government-run hospitals in Delhi to treat mucormycosis
Surgeries for treating mucormycosis disease can now be conducted at select private hospitals under the Delhi Arogya Kosh for cashless surgery scheme, if the allotted day of operation is beyond seven days of admission at Delhi-government run hospitals, said a press release from Directorate General of Health services in a tweet from the State Minister For Health, Satyendar Jain.
Limited capacity at government hospitals
The move was taken to address the limited capacity of performing surgeries at government-run hospitals in Delhi to treat mucormycosis, coupled with the ferocious nature of the disease which requires urgent and timely surgical intervention.
The press release from the Directorate General of Health Services, said that “In view of the limited capacity for performing surgeries pertaining to Mucormycosis in Delhi Government Hospitals, Hon’ble Minister for Health, cum Chairman, Delhi Arogya Kosh has approved that eligible patients (residents of Delhi identified on the basis of Voter ID of Delhi) undergoing treatment for Mucormycosis in Delhi government hospitals may be referred to empanelled private hospitals under cashless surgery scheme of Delhi Arogya Kosh if the allotted date of surgery in the concerned Delhi Government Hospital is beyond 7 (seven) days”.
