IT Refunds: CBDT issues over Rs 67,400 crore worth refunds
CBDT has issued over Rs 67,400 crore worth refunds in five months of the current fiscal.
The Income Tax Department has announced that over Rs 67,400 crore worth refunds have been issued by CBDT in five months of the current fiscal. On September 4, 2021, the I-T department tweeted that “CBDT issues refunds of over Rs 67,401 crore to more than 23.99 lakh taxpayers between 1st April, 2021 to 30th August, 2021.”
In over 22.61 lakh cases, income tax refunds of Rs 16,373 crore have been issued. In over 1.37 lakh cases, corporate tax refunds of Rs 51,029 crore have been issued.

Earlier, on August 29, the Income Tax Department announced in a series of tweets that it has issued refunds to the tune of Rs 51,531 crore to close to around 23 lakh taxpayers across the country between April 1 and August 23.
I-T refunds of Rs 14,835 crore have been issued in 21.70 lakh cases, while corporate tax refunds to the tune of Rs 36,696 crore have been issued in 1.28 lakh cases, the I-T department had added.
