Clubhouse Android app likely in May, developers share glimpses online

Clubhouse may soon be available for Android users. The app’s Android developer Mopewa Ogundipe shared a screenshot to give audiences a sneak peak into what the Clubhouse android interface looks like. In March this year, the app’s co-founder and CEO Paul Davidson had hinted that work is underway to launch the app for Android users.

Clubhouse’s Android developer Mopewa, who was hired by the company in February, shared a few pictures on her Twitter handle describing the app’s journey from iOS to Android. Few reports suggest the app will roll out its Android version in May.

Currently, Clubhouse is only available for iOS users and its ‘invite-only’ feature restricts people from joining the app unless they receive an invitation from a pre-existing user. Davidson, in a recent town-hall interaction, however confirmed that the app will soon let go of this feature and become available for all. He also plans to add tools to the app which empowers the users.

Amidst hundreds of new social media applications emerging everyday, Clubhouse has held the ground rather firmly until now. A lot of it could be credited to the overwhelming support it received from the Silicon valley giants and other influential communities like Black creators, Gen Z stalwarts and bitcoin peddlers who participated to make it the latest buzz in town.

From Tesla and SpaceX chief Elon Musk to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Oprah Winfrey, Chris Rock, Drake and comedian Tiffany Haddish – all of them have appeared for conversations on the app which helped generate a fan frenzy and curiosity amongst people. Capital firm Andreessen Horowitz valued the company at $100 million when it was just a few months old, Forbes reported.

Developed by Alpha Exploration Co., the free-of-cost app recently found itself in the midst of a massive data breach controversy. Reports claimed that data of about 1.3 million Clubhouse users were posted on a hacker forum but the company denied it.

“Clubhouse has not been breached or hacked. The data referred to is all public profile information from our app, which anyone can access via the app or our API,” the company maintained.
